Happy New Year 2008

Greetings…

So the festive season has come and gone. Possibly leaving dented bank balances - hopefully proving to be happy, joyful and on the whole enjoyable.

One of my New years resolutions was to ‘blog’ more than I have been of late and hoepfully get one or two folks to subscribe to read some of the rational-mystic; mind or entertainment stuff.

The lead up to Christmas was busy work-wise - and I guess the ‘busy’ part of that would be true for all.

Those of you living in and around Truro might well have “bumped into” me on the Saturdays leading up to Christmas. Well if you were anywhere near Debenhams you would’ve. My agent found me some interesting work, I guess based on my rather rotund frame! A red suit and a white beard…. voila… a magical Santa who not only attempted to look and act the ‘part’ but also befuddled one or two youngsters by telling them what they wanted for Christmas…. (Hell, I’m not a psychic entertainer for nothing!)

Christmas performance highlights for me inlcuded some sessions at The Falming Wok resturant. These ‘gigs’ were shared with a friend of mine Paul Silk and really heralded the birth of the Consortium of Magicians - South West (www.cornwallmagician.com). We hope this will become THE place to book high quality, professional magical entertainers.

Other highlights were the fun times I had with the folk of GE Money Lending Solutions at their corporate dinner (Headland Hotel, Newquay 21st December). Very pleased to recieve some great feedback from the folks there and even more ‘chuffed’ that they thoroughly enjoyed the psychological entertainment.

Tonight, just got back from a really great private function in Port Issac - the place where Martin Clunes and co. present a very stereotypical view of Cornish life in the popular comedy Doc Martin. In fact some of the folks involved in that production were present. Again I believe they enjoyed the evening, some super comments and I got to say it was fun to perform for such a fun, appreciative and interesting audience. Happy Birthday Andy and thanks for trusting me with the entertainment Nicola…. and hoping to meet up with some of the people I met there in the very near future. (By the way, if you’re in the vicinity pop into The Mote, the restuarnt next to the harbour carpark - great venue, great hosts and super hospitality).

So what’s on the cards for this year?

The sessions on John Goviers Late Night Radio Show are set to continue. Into the second year now… be great to get some of the listeners commenting on this blog (or at least letting me know if they are following up on the tabloid astrology!).

One of the forthcoming ‘features’ in the Magician Amongst the Spirits section of the blog will be details of the planned investigation into ghostly-goings on at Tregenna Castle Hotel (St Ives, Cornwall). I’ve a night-long stay in the ‘haunted lodge’ planned with what will hopefully be a follow-up session to share the results of the ‘investigation’.

I’m hoping to get more work nearer to home this year as I did spend much of last touring around the UK…. just need to get the work-travel balance right. Having said that I am always open to offers from ANYWHERE in the UK or elsewhere.

I’d also like to do one or two lectures for Magic Societies (any Hon Secs. out there!) over the next 12 months and perhaps tie them into shows/corporate lectures alread booked in Glasgow, London and Aberdeen (TBC).

I’ve also been working on the website (www.psychicentertainer.net) - trying to get it to outline more of what I do and give potential bookers a better sense of what I can offer. I hope to extend this in 2008 as well as making the ‘psychic entertainers only’ section of this blog operational and allow fellow performers to share ideas, material and even offer their own products for sale. But all this is to come.

For now I’ll sign off with the repeated wish of a Happy and Prosperous New Year for all and ESPECIALLY to those who do pop by and read the content on this site.
