Mystery School : Installment 1

Posted on April 8th, 2008.

I have been looking forward to this event for a long time, and since collecting Eugene and Jeff from Heathrow on the 1st April we’ve had a really hectic, enjoyable and entertaining time.

The Mystery School Master Class as organised by my friends and colleagues at Kernow Magic, welcomed 14 magicians from the UK, Greece and Poland. These magical sessions really started on Thrusday the 3rd of April, when Jeff and Eugene performed their show at the Princess Pavillions in Falmouth. I was honoured to be asked to act as host and was invited to open the show for them.

Jeff and Eugene earned standing ovations from the appreciatve theatre goers - magic had arrived in Cornwall.

Everyday since their arrival in Cornwall I have had the pleasure of being in their company… watching and learning from these masters of the craft.

The Master Class sessions started on Friday 4th and ended on Sunday the 6th. Three days exploring the art, craft and deeper significance of magic. I, as did many other students, took the opportunity to present ‘works in progress’ for detailed directorial and performance feedback from the group. Again I was honoured to be invited to offer a session at the masterclass on the psychology of deception and was overwhelmed by the posituve response this presentation received… both from the ‘masters’ and the ’students’.

It’s been a long weekend and I will blog more about this amazing time in installment 2.
