Mystery School : Installment 2

Well Jeff and Eugene have left these shores…

Eugene back to Chicago for a short break before the World Magic Seminar and Jeff to Instanbul for a series of appearances there…

Time now to reflect upon what was an amazing time with these guys, and indeed the other magicians who made up the Masterclass..

Everyone I have spoke to was moved by the experience… both professionally and personally. The level of trust and the amount of sharing that takes place in these events is very difficult to describe.

After the Masterclass was over I had the opportunity to ‘hang around’ with Jeff and Eugene’s host, Kenny Roberts of Kernow Magic. Being in the company of Jeff and Eugene out of the masterclass sessions gave us the time to talk about magic and performance in a less formal way, as well as witnessing the in-promptu magic of these guys.

Monday 7th saw us at Carn Brae Castle, a unique resturant in Redruth, Cornwall. Guests and management there were treated to an in-promptu ‘cabaret’ featuring Jeff McBride, Eugene Burger and Romany…

The more observant of you will also notice Barry and Stuart - the guys from “Crack Magic”, “Tricks from the Bible” and other TV specials. One of my abiding memories of these after-class meetings will be Barry and Stuart performing the BEST version of the razor-blade trick I’ve ever seen… made even more amazing as they performed this as part of the after-dinner entertainment in a small country pub near Falmouth.

So now it’s back to work to find a way to bring together all that was shared in a way which will improve my own performances.
