Predictive Dowsing and Indigo Children !!!

“Was the dowser whose services you sought able to find the water pipe?”
Friend…
“Well he did but it wasn’t where he said it was - the waterboard came and fixed it.. but guess what… they laid the new pipe exactly where he said it would be…”
Now I for one am not going to question the abilities of dowsers and other such sensitives because I believe there are such…. AND THAT’S the point it all hinges on belief and belief shapes not only our perception but how we interpret the world…
For example last night on UK T.V. there was a programme about “Psychic Children” - the so called Indigo or Crystal children who represent the ‘next phase in human evolution’… They have been ‘incarnated’ with the express purpose to bring healing and harmony to the world… What a lovely idea and perhaps this is so.
What was interesting in all of this was how the beliefs of the adults were shaping the experiences of the children. Ok, so this happens all of the time AND who’s to say that shaping a childs belief into somthing that presents as empathic, caring and harmony-seeking behaviour isn’t a good thing. But the point is surely that we can all buy into our own delusions and illusions and treat them as fact… and in fact, we can deny others some very basic freedoms and choices by doing so. In some ways perhaps the parents and ‘psychic guides’ who set themselves up as spiritual mentors are as narrow-minded as the ’scientific’ community they quote as being ‘closed’…
Isn’t true mentorship about creating challenges and opportunities for the mentee to explore all facets of a particular reality or system of belief…. AND that is as true for the ‘new age space-cadets’ as it is for the ‘hard nosed cynics’.
What seemed to be missing in the programme about the Indigo children was ‘balance’…. not from the point of view of the documentary makers, but from the point of view of the parents and ‘helpers’ who were creating the environment in which their ’special children’ were growing up.
Let’s face it ALL children are special, just as are all human beings. We have a wide range of potentials and abilities, some of which as yet may be un -tapped or lying dormant, but all with the potential to grow, think, learn, love and create…. So perhaps the ideal and idyllic oasis of love, care, trust and empowerment that was being created around these children should be promoted and encouraged….. but for ALL and not those deemed special or by some quirk of econmic fate have the wherewithall to secure such devoted attention.
So back to predictive dowsing - the dowser didn’t get anything wrong, it ws just that he was influenced by the future - and of course if your belief system can deal with that then your world will be created to accommodate the ‘facts’…. BUT if your belief system is not in accord then you will be apt to dismiss ‘everything’ as, in the words of James Randi, ‘woo woo’ or, as we might say… bullshit!
So what of the picture at the top of this blog…. Obviously it’s of a young woman sitting at her dressing table looking at here reflection…. Your perceptions created an internal reality for you, a pattern you could recognise…. yet some will see only the human skull staring back at them….. !!!!
